Today, Health Minister Jim Reiter accepted all of the recommendations of the Saskatchewan Advisory Panel on Health System Structure, and announced the province will consolidate the 12 existing Regional Health Authorities (RHAs) into one single Provincial Health Authority.

New Rules on Access to Birth Registration Now In Effect for Adult Adoptees and Birth Parents

On January 1, new regulations came into effect to make it easier for adult adoptees and birth parents to access birth registration information.

The Government of Saskatchewan originally announced the changes in February 2016 to provide notice to individuals involved in the 37,000 adoptions that have occurred in Saskatchewan since 1922.

Saskatchewan Taxpayers Will Save $9.0 Million Through Indexation in 2017

All Saskatchewan income tax brackets and tax credit amounts will once again be indexed in 2017, saving taxpayers an estimated $9.0 million.  The level of indexation in 2017 will be 1.4 per cent, matching the national rate of inflation.

SGI is reminding Saskatchewan residents that impaired driving laws are changing in the new year.  Tougher legislation was passed earlier this fall, with strengthened laws taking effect January 1, 2017.

NEW GROUP HOME OPENS IN SWIFT CURRENT

Premier Brad Wall was joined by families, local dignitaries and citizens in Swift Current today to welcome three residents into a new Southwest Homes group home.

“When we were first elected there were 440 people with intellectual disabilities in our province waiting for homes, about 20 people in the Swift Current area alone,” Wall said.  “Although the original list of people now have homes, there are a few people waiting on the wait list in our area.  There’s always more work to do.  Our government will continue to make it a priority to build homes for all of those in Saskatchewan with intellectual disabilities.”
