GAMING GRANTS PROVIDE $1.6 MILLION TO SASKATCHEWAN COMMUNITIES

Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) is providing approximately $1.6 million in charitable gaming grants to more than 900 groups and organizations across the province.

“Volunteers give countless hours of their time because they want to make their communities better,” Minister responsible for SLGA Donna Harpauer said.  “These grants recognize those efforts by providing additional funding to a variety of groups and organizations involved in everything from children’s sports and recreation to programming for the sick and elderly.”

Among the grants provided by SLGA this quarter: Moose Jaw and surrounding area received $126,491; Prince Albert and surrounding area: $113,113; Humboldt and surrounding area: $61,042; Estevan and surrounding area: $46,636 and Lloydminster and surrounding area: $21,221.

These quarterly grants are based on a percentage of net proceeds raised through licensed charitable gaming activities such as: bingos, raffles, breakopen tickets, Texas Hold’em poker and Monte Carlo events.  Charitable gaming reports submitted by groups are used by SLGA to automatically calculate grant amounts.
