Pre-Design Work for Highway 39 Twinning Underway

Released on August 26, 2014

The Government of Saskatchewan is beginning pre-design work for the twinning of eight kilometres of Highway 39 from Estevan to Bienfait.
“One tenet of the Saskatchewan Plan for Growth is  building the infrastructure that responds to the challenges of an expanding economy and creates the conditions for future prosperity,” Highways and Infrastructure Minister Nancy Heppner said.  ”This is one of the first projects under our Highway 6 and 39 Twinning Strategy and an important project for a vibrant area of our province.”
The work includes surveying, geotechnical investigation and environmental assessment.  This will help ensure the safest and most efficient design for the project.
Residents can expect the work to last into the fall.  There will be minimal disruption to traffic while the work is being done.

Once the pre-design work has concluded, the project will move into detailed design.

The government has invested a record $4.3 billion in transportation infrastructure since 2008.
