Premier Proclaims Year of Saskatchewan Ukrainians

The provincial government is recognizing the many and varied contributions of citizens of Ukrainian descent by designating 2016 as the Year of Saskatchewan Ukrainians.

Premier Brad Wall said the proclamation acknowledges the 125th anniversary of the first wave of Ukrainian immigration to Canada and Saskatchewan and launches anniversary events and celebrations that will occur across the province.

GRAND OPENING OF LLOYDMINSTER’S COLLEGE PARK SCHOOL CELEBRATED

Today Lloydminster MLA Colleen Young, on behalf of Saskatchewan Education Minister Don Morgan, joined students, teachers, families, members of the community and representatives from the Government of Alberta and the Lloydminster Public School Division (LPSD) to officially commemorate the opening of the new $29.5 million College Park School.  The Government of Saskatchewan contributed $7.5 million toward this project.

Premiers noted the fiscal challenges all jurisdictions are facing due to fluctuating commodity prices and other pressures.  Despite these challenges, the fundamentals for continued economic growth in the West remain strong.
