HEALTH MINISTER APPOINTS ADVISORY PANEL TO REVIEW HEALTH REGION STRUCTURE

Today, Health Minister Dustin Duncan announced the appointment of a three person advisory panel that will be tasked with reviewing the current Regional Health Authority (RHA) structure and to provide options to reduce the number of RHAs in Saskatchewan.  The panel’s mandate will also include a review of options for more effective and efficient delivery of services on a province-wide basis.

PROVINCE OFFERS ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO LA LOCHE

Premier Brad Wall returned to La Loche today to fulfill the province’s commitment of additional support to the community following the tragic shootings there in January.

“Since the terrible events of last January, the people of La Loche have inspired us with their resilience, unity and optimism,” Wall said.  “Our government promised to support the community as it recovers and today we continue to meet that commitment.  Working with local leaders, local institutions and the federal government, we are investing in a range of programming that will foster hope and opportunity and enable more residents to lead independent, self-sufficient lives.  Together, we are building a stronger La Loche.  And that’s good for Saskatchewan.”

JUNE MANUFACTURING SALES RANK SASKATCHEWAN FIRST AMONG PROVINCES

Manufacturing sales saw a strong increase in activity to begin the summer, with Saskatchewan ranking first among the provinces in terms of month-to-month percentage change.

On a seasonally-adjusted basis, manufacturing sales in Saskatchewan increased by 4.3 per cent in June 2016 compared to May 2016, enough for top spot.  Food and chemicals, wood products and machinery manufacturing were sectors that experienced increases.

NEW EXHIBIT OPENS AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE TO CELEBRATE THE PAST 125 YEARS

Our Stories: Artifacts Tell All! is a new feature exhibit opening at Government House in Regina this afternoon to celebrate Government House’s 125th anniversary.

This exhibit shares the history of Government House over the last 125 years through the stories of original artifacts.  It features a number of unique artifacts, along with multimedia and interactive programming elements.  The exhibit is open to the public free of charge during regular hours and will remain on display until October 31, 2016.
